HTC Vigor

Dubbed the successor to the HTC Thunderbolt, the HTC Vigor will likely be the first 720p HD display packing Android to the market. With a faster processor, better display and possibly better sound (Beat By Dre technology) than the Galaxy S2, it is a formidable opponent to the Samsung phone.

Motorola Droid Bionic

The Motorola Droid Bionic is expected to be the first dual-core Android with LTE on Big Red. It also might be the one phone on this list that may have a headstart of the Samsung Galaxy S2 if rumors of a September 9 release are true. Its biggest advantage over the S2 would have to be its LTE antenna if you happen to live in an area with Verizon LTE coverage.

Samsung Nexus Prime

Expected to be the first Android Ice Cream Sandwich phone on the market and successor to the Google Nexus 2, a lot of surprises are expected from the Nexus Prime. Hardware wise, it will be similar to the Samsung Galaxy S2 but with a slightly tweaked processor (1.5GHz) and better resolution display (720p).

Apple iPhone 5

The iPhone 5 is suspected to hit stores in mid-October and while its specs remain unconfirmed, the fan following behind the iPhone 5 is enough to make it the biggest rival to the Galaxy S2 and pretty much every phone on this list.
