802.11ac for up to 3.6 gbps and 802.11ad for up to 7 Gbps and wireless replacement of HDMI, USB and PCI-e

The number of public wifi hotspots is projected to increase from 2 million in 2012 to 4 million in 2014 Combined with the new 802.11ac and 802.11ad wifi standards for multi-gigabit speeds and beamforming for longer ranges this will enable better hotspots for offloading data traffic from cellular networks.

802.11ad will allow devices to communicate over four, 2.16GHz-wide channels, delivering data rates of up to 7 Gigabits per second, even for mobile devices with limited power, a significant improvement over both 11n and 11ac.

802.11ac should still have 500 mbps speed at distances of 50 meters.

By 2015, 802.11ac and 802.11ad should be the dominant wifi
