Elon Musk Boring Company permitted to dig part of Hyperloop tunnel in DC

Elon Musk’s Boring Company has been given an early, and vague, building permit to begin some extremely preliminary work on a section of an underground Hyperloop tunnel in DC.

DC officials have not committed to the project long-term yet. DC Department of Transportation is examining what kinds of further permissions the Boring Company would need to send its massive tunnel-digging drills under city roads and publicly owned land.

Musk has support from White House aide Jared Kushner and Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan.

  1. It is great to see a productive and beneficial effort that will not despoil our environment. But where will they pile the extracted material? Will they be making mountains out of molehills? In any event, these are the kind of things we have come to expect from Elon Musk. Great prosperity to him in all his endeavors.
