Russia’s tsunami creating nuclear drone would dive deeper than US subs and move faster than torpedos

US Missile defense is very limited today. There are only few dozen interceptor missiles and the system would be lucky to defend against about six ICBM missiles. Russia worried that the missile defense may intercept a large percentage of a second strike arsenal 20–30 years from now.

The Status Six will be capable of diving as deep as one thousand meters under the sea and moving at fifty-six knots. Military submarines are designed to dive to about five hundred meters and current U.S. Navy Mark 48 torpedoes have a speed of fifty-five knots. Russia has a program to develop 100 megaton and megaton class tsunami generating nuclear drone weapons.

The weapon could explode in shallow waters off of a coastline and generate a tsunami hundreds of feet high. Such a tsunami could devastate all of Florida and the east coast of the United States.
