US currently has no defenses against new hypersonic missiles coming from China and Russia in the next few years

Air Force Gen. John Hyten, commander of U.S. Strategic Command, told Congress that the US does not have any defenses against hypersonic weapons being developed by Russia and China.

US Strategic Command is in charge of the nuclear weapons of the USA.

General Hyten says he strongly agrees with the need for a low-yield nuclear weapon that would be launched from US submarines.

China and Russia both plant to deploy hypersonic boost and glide missiles in the next year or two.
