SpaceX working on SpaceX BFR factory and faring catcher

The SpaceX BFR factory is expected to take 12-18 months for Phase 1 and another 12 or so months for Phase 2. Pictures indicate the work to prepare the site of the SpaceX BFR factory is ramping up

SpaceX continues to work on a larger faring catcher. It is being made four times larger in area.

The $6 million carbon composite aluminum farings could become a bottleneck when SpaceX shifts to a higher volume of launches.

SpaceX will likely need to build four faring catching boats.

  1. The new arms for Mr. Steven are humongous though. 4x net area requires the arms to be at least 2x their previous size. Gonna make the ship somewhat unwieldy in a wind…

  3. I’m planning on being at the first BFR launch out of Canaveral. If it explodes, it’ll be friggin’ spectacular, if kind of depressing. If it works as expected, it’ll be friggin’ spectacular and I’ll be one happy guy!
