Asian American men in New Jersey live longer than high life expectancy Hong Kong Women

Hong Kong has been the country in longevity for the past three years. Currently the life expectancy in Hong Kong is 81.7 years for men and 87.3 years for women. The combined life expectancy is 84.5 years. This is longer than people in Japan who ranked third in the world.

There are seven million people in the city of Hong Kong.

There are nearly 1 million Asian Americans in New Jersey and the life expectancy is 90.6 years for women and 88.07 years for men. The combined life expectancy is 89.37 years for Asian Americans in New Jersey.

The 20 million Asian Americans in the USA have a combined life expectancy of 86.37 years which is nearly two years longer than Hong Kong.

Even Asian American Men in New Jersey live longer than Hong Kong women

Here are some key points. It is possible for a city-sized population of men (500,000) to have a life expectancy longer than even the longest-lived women.

The Asian American men in Pennsylvania, Texas and Florida also live longer than Hong Kong women.

90-year life expectancy is possible for most people

Eat smart, have a positive attitude, become affluent or richer, take care of exercise and most people today can live to 90 or beyond. The people dying at 85 and 92 years now were born in the 1920s.

Those with university education also tend to live longer.

  1. Do you also wish desperately for cure for aging.
If so can you tell me all and I mean all factors to slow aging down?

  2. Very help full I guess we have the same interests!

Can you tell me what race is associated most with high life expectancy.(By DNA)

  3. I think Monaco is actually the country with the highest life expectancy (89.5 overall). They are not included on all lists because the population is small. But it is not an accident of statistics they have very good healthcare. In 2014 they spent $7300 per person. Second only to the US I think. In the US people in eldercare facilities magically die as soon as all their assets are used up paying the outrageous facility fees. The longer you can stay in your own house the better. Asian children take care of their aging parents. Some people I know used the first excuse they could find to get their Mom out of her house so they could sell the house and get the money. They sent the mother to a government mental asylum. She did not last long there. She was a bit eccentric but always was no real change. Well she was nervous about not having enough food after she lost her driver’s license so bought a lot and put it in the garage. She goofed standing on her table to paint the ceiling. She fell and injured her leg. Doctors wanted to amputate her foot and she did not allow them. And it healed just fine. But the indecent was used to persuade people that she was a danger to herself…which was nonsense. And it only takes one bad kid. Somehow the kids that did not want to put her away could not override the one that did.

  5. I think the diet has a lot to do with it. Asian food contains less meat and more veggie in proportion, thus consume less animal fat. Also Asians drink more tea instead of drinks with lots of sugar which is a main cause of obesity.

  7. Interesting.. but the real thng is two-fold. I mean, averaage life span increases and this si good but the oldest living person in 2018 is basically of the same as the oldest living person in 1950 Which supports my theory that there is a built-in mechanism in our DNA that makes us die around the age of 110

  11. average lifespan for an american today is lower than for many advanced countries Italy and Japan are doing better, today

  12. Improvement has been marginal though. Oldest living woman in the 50s was 113 years old Now 116 or 117 Not so much an improvement

  13. The oldest have gotten older. Of the 100 verified oldest lived people ever, the earliest death was 1985. That means no one who died in the 1950s, 1960’s, or 1970’s is even in the top 100.

  14. 21 of the 50 oldest confirmed people ever, were in the United States. These numbers are distorted in that the US kept better records earlier than many countries. We have no idea how many Chinese or Indians or South Africans….should be on that list. Canada the US Japan, and most European countries have good records. These extreme outliers mostly had very good genes. Average life expectancy tells you far more about the healthfulness of lifestyle, food quality, and state of the healthcare system. Though wars and disasters can mess that up too.

  15. I don’t understand what you are replying to. The US spends a lot on healthcare, but gets very little for that. There are 3 main reasons for that: poor consumer choices, ineffective FDA, EPA and CDC, and a lousy healthcare system with many insurers, healthcare providers, and pharmaceutical/medical devise/testing companies gaming the system to increase profits…while ignoring cheaper more effective stuff. Consumers eat too much deep fried food, BBQ, cheeseburgers, country gravy, nondairy creamer, ranch dressing, doughnuts, grilled stuff (the browning or blackening introduces carcinogens), pies, cookies, biscuits and crackers. The FDA still permits trans fats. Officially, they are supposed to be banned as of 6/16/2018 but they gave them more time theoretically for the food that is already made to be sold. This after they gave them 3 years to change over. The stuff is killing over 50,000 Americans a year. Avoid anything that says “hydrogenated” or “partially hydrogenated” …anything! So many people are not looking or ignoring it. Then there are preservatives (some may actually be good, but most are probably bad), artificial colors, artificial flavors, artificial sweeteners, insecticides, and herbicides. Everything needs properly tested, and when it is found unhealthful, banned. For most Americans, cooking everything from scratch is just not viable. Too much time spent in traffic, at work, or taking kids places. And many women bristle at the thought of doing anything previously thought of as women’s work. Or their mother did, so they never learned to cook. So, dad makes BBQ every other night, and they order pizza. Maybe she will make a salad, or cut fruit. That is not much to build a healthy diet on. I think air quality is reasonably good. It could be better if we got the stinky diesel trucks off the roads, the lead out of aviation fuel, and the coal plants shut down. Water quality could be better, but smart people buy bottled water or have reverse os

  16. My state is not even in the running. It appears the higher population density states, and countries, have the highest life span. I think it’s from being closer to all the medical services, especially for emergencies. It would take an hour for an ambulance to get to my house, then an hour back to the nearest hospital. Maybe I shouldn’t have moved so far out in the country?

  23. Matheus is correct. But your theory is actually fact. Read on telomeres and cancer rates etc. 100% of all men over the age of 10 have prostrate cancer and 100% of women over 100 have breast cancer. We live with cell mutations all our lives, but eventually the body’s immune system can’t fight against it. Throw in environment and access to healthcare services, decline in smoking rates etc. Some people die sooner, some die later. While there are more centenarians per capita globally than there were 50 years ago, the longevity hasn’t budged. This article is full of statistical nonsense as a comparative analysis. They are just numbers without a discussion. Historical smoking rates in HK were higher than asian-american smoking rates in the US. Plus HK has had worse air pollution. Anyway, the “good news” is that life expectancy is very slowly increasing (who wants to live to 127 riddled with cancer?).

  24. Probably less to do with meat in general and more to do with the types of meat (seafood and chicken versus beef) and also the amount of high fructose corn syrup that Americans consume in soda and other sweet beverages.

  31. The average of the oldest person every year from 1950 to 1969 is only 110.2 Six years is not a trivial difference. Life expectancy at 65 years old in 1950 in the US was 14 years. In 2000 it was 17.5 years. That is a difference of 3.5 years. So, if anything, the reverse of what you are saying is true. Thank you for the insightful comment But the only thing you have been able to prove (if the data of life expectancy at 65 years old is true, and I frankly doubt it) is that improvement in life expectancy at 65 has been slow as well Not that the improvement for the live life lenght at maximum, the averrage oldest person life has been improving much 6 years improvement in 70 years is not much IMHO. You have to consider that, 1) Earth population increased 2.5-3x? from the 50s 2) better track of records So probably the life of the oldest person per billion people in the world has not improved 6 years considering thata we have a global population which is twice or three times that of the 50s We can conclude that improvement of life expectancy as the oldest person is as sluggish as the imporvement of life expectancy at 65 Life expectancy at birth has had an improvement of about 12 years, much more than that ! So we should have had an improvement of life expectancy as world oldest person of more than that son considering that the population grew 3.5 times or so in the last 70 years Maybe not 3.5 times but 2.8-3 times

  40. I figured out the issue “Second only to the US, I think.” Is in reference to how much they spend on healthcare.

  51. No reason to doubt the data search “1900-2000: Changes In Life Expectancy In The United States” The thing is, we are talking about people killed by age. When you use “life expectancy at birth,” there is far more going on. Mostly, babies born alive stay alive. Almost all of them survive, where maybe only 90% did 150 years ago. And it was not just the baby, it was often the mother too. Weather exposure was much worse, transportation was less safe, and you were more likely to be killed by highway robbers, and wild animals. Wars were more common as well. Antibiotics have made a major impact, as have inoculations, and antivirals. But these are not victories over aging. The infant mortality rate has gone from 100 out of 1000 in 1915 to 5.6 out of 1000 in 2017 in the US. And the Maternal death rate has gone from about 70 in 1000 in the US to 2.6 in 1000. I would rather have taken life expectancy at 35, but I can’t find the data. Most aging deaths are after that age. There are a couple rapid aging diseases, but the number of people born with them is very small. Nonetheless, I think the life expectancy at 65 is sufficient to debunk the conjecture. While there are more countries collecting vital records, improved healthcare rose at a similar rate in the same places. I don’t think there were millions of 100-year-olds in India or China a hundred years ago. The medical care was so bad that only a very small fraction of the population made it to 100 let alone 115. I am not saying there were none, but the odds would be very long. It is hard to live to 115 in a cold damp hut with rivers of feces floating by and rampant disease everywhere.

They may not move fast or hear very well, but they are usually mobile and walking until the last year or two of life. You forgot to include genetics in your list of things that affect the health. Given that some people eat what they want, smoke, and still live to be 100 (like George Burns), genes seem to be a pretty big factor. If that is true, we should be able to figure out what those protective genes are doing and apply that to everyone. But the general point here, that maximum lifespan hasn’t really changed, is still true. We’re just squaring the curve of mortality at this point.

Maybe the grumpy part of the brain begins to die or something. They always assumed people that made it to 100 were just positive happy people, and advised others to be happy positive low stress people to live long. But it is just a part of aging…get old enough and you get happy and social. It happen to my grandfather when he hit 96 or so. He just started telling jokes and became the life of the party. 79. Thank you for the insightful comment
But the only thing you have been able to prove (if the data of life expectancy at 65 years old is true, and I frankly doubt it) is that improvement in life expectancy at 65 has been slow as well
Not that the improvement for the live life lenght at maximum, the averrage oldest person life has been improving much
6 years improvement in 70 years is not much IMHO.
    You have to consider that,
    1) Earth population increased 2.5-3x? from the 50s
    2) better track of records
So probably the life of the oldest person per billion people in the world has not improved 6 years considering thata we have a global population which is twice or three times that of the 50s
We can conclude that improvement of life expectancy as the oldest person is as sluggish as the imporvement of life expectancy at 65
Life expectancy at birth has had an improvement of about 12 years, much more than that !
So we should have had an improvement of life expectancy as world oldest person of more than that son considering that the population grew 3.5 times or so in the last 70 years
Maybe not 3.5 times but 2.8-3 times

The oldest of the old have close to doubled the gain of the average person.

  81. You could advocate for life flight helicopters or other medical transport helicopters. Easier to find a place to land (assuming you don’t live in a forest) when population density is low.

It is also one more great reason we need these automated transport drones.

Most health conditions that could kill you give some warning, often for years. If you are fine in those respects, then accidents are what you need to focus on preventing.

    1. Wall to wall carpet with thick padding may not be hip now, but it can save your hip. And carpet the steps and landings too.

    2. Fix any wonky railings. They should be firm. And add railings, if needed.

    3. Better not to have large dogs in the house or anywhere near the top of a flight of stairs. Dogs trip elderly people all the time.

    4. Don’t neglect your eyesight. Correct cataracts as soon as they give you any problems.

    5. Don’t be cheap and walk around in dimly lit rooms. There are good LED lights now, and they use very little power.

    6. Don’t leave stuff cluttering floors or walkways.

    7. Tape down any wires going over walkways.

    8. Do strength training. Core strength is especially important to good balance. Sit on the edge of you bed (not the very edge…sit normal) and do sit-ups. Work up to 60 or 80, assuming you are healthy. Start with say 15. Stomach muscles develop fast. It should not take long to get to 60. There are lots of core training videos and such on the web.

    9. Take lutein, zeaxanthin, and l-carnosine for eye health. Boron, calcium and magnesium for bones.

    10. Drive carefully…obviously.

    11. Things that are stacked, stack stably.

    12. If you live in an earthquake zone (California, Oregon, Washington, or Alaska), make sure your water heater is secured with a steel strap, There are no loose glass objects or heavy objects up high, tall furniture is secured to the wall,

    13. Don’t use cooking pans that are too heavy to control when water is in them. A spill of boiling water on feet with socks and shoes on can easily give you third degree burns, because the water soaks into the socks and you can’t get them off quickly.

    14. Better not to have high spirited horses. Also, having donkeys can calm horses.

    15. Avoid handheld spinning power saws: angle grinders (use tabletop cut-off saw instead), chainsaws (hire someone), and circular saws. If you must use a circular saw, make sure the blade is new. But there are often other choices like jigsaws, sawzalls or pullsaws. I really like pullsaws, much less work than western pushsaws.

    16. If you have to be out in the rain, use a good raincoat and hat. In a pinch a large black trashbag will work as a raincoat. Just cut holes for arms and neck. You want the neck not exactly symmetric front to back. And make the holes for the arms start down 5 or 6 inches from the corners. And make the holes slightly smaller than your guess. The bag will stretch if needed. I made a few, and put them in all places I do stuff. Great for painting t

  82. Here is a comment after “Check out Misty’s spam page here… >> ” with just a link to the next big future homepage without any forward slashes. Can other people see this?

    Check out Misty’s spam page here… >> staging-nextbigfuture.kinsta.cloud

  83. I can see the first comment where you cut and paste Misty’s spam link, but not the second normal link.

Maybe it is the “Check out Misty’s spam page here… >> ” before the link that is confusing Vuukle? I will try putting that in front of a normal link in the next comment.

  85. Probably less to do with meat in general and more to do with the types of meat (seafood and chicken versus beef) and also the amount of high fructose corn syrup that Americans consume in soda and other sweet beverages.

  86. The oldest have gotten older. Of the 100 verified oldest lived people ever, the earliest death was 1985. That means no one who died in the 1950s, 1960’s, or 1970’s is even in the top 100.

  87. 21 of the 50 oldest confirmed people ever, were in the United States.

Water quality could be better, but smart people buy bottled water or have reverse osmosis under their sink. Though, in some parts of the country, the water from the tap is excellent.

We are getting lead in our systems from all the lead fallout from several decades of leaded fuel exacerbated by incredibly poor gas mileage. And there is lead from lead paint in construction before 1978. They have recently determined that even low levels of lead are killing 412,000 Americans every year…nearly as many as smoking (480,000). And speaking of smoking, people are still smoking deluding themselves that they will be lucky and not die of lung cancer, emphysema, or other respiratory diseases, or take one of their relatives with them to the grave early.
Lead plays a role in some of the unhealthy behaviors. Lead exposure in children, infants, before birth damages the areas of the brain involved in self control weakening people’s control to break or avoid addiction, and avoid impulsive food choices.

  90. Interesting.. but the real thng is two-fold.
I mean, averaage life span increases and this si good but the oldest living person in 2018 is basically of the same as the oldest living person in 1950
Which supports my theory that there is a built-in mechanism in our DNA that makes us die around the age of 110

  91. I make $82h while I’m setting out to the most cleared corners of the planet. Seven days sooner I worked by my PC in Rome, Monti Carlo at long last Paris… This week I’m back in the USA. All that I do are clear errands from this one cool site.GOOD LUCK

  92. I think the diet has a lot to do with it. Asian food contains less meat and more veggie in proportion, thus consume less animal fat. Also Asians drink more tea instead of drinks with lots of sugar which is a main cause of obesity.

  93. I think Monaco is actually the country with the highest life expectancy (89.5 overall). They are not included on all lists because the population is small. But it is not an accident of statistics, they have very good healthcare. In 2014 they spent $7,300 per person. Second only to the US, I think.

In the US, people in eldercare facilities magically die as soon as all their assets are used up paying the outrageous facility fees. The longer you can stay in your own house the better. Asian children take care of their aging parents. Some people I know, used the first excuse they could find to get their Mom out of her house so they could sell the house and get the money. They sent the mother to a government mental asylum. She did not last long there. She was a bit eccentric, but always was, no real change. Well, she was nervous about not having enough food after she lost her driver’s license, so bought a lot and put it in the garage.
