Russia arming SU-57 stealth fighters with hypersonic missiles

Russia may only build about 24 Su-57 stealth fighters but they will receive hypersonic R37M missiles.

The R37M anti-aircraft missile will have a range of 300-400 kilometers and a speed of mach 6.

China has also been developing a large mach 6 anti-aircraft missile.

  1. First not 24 but only 12. Russia will only build 12 SU-57 fighters, there was never any financing for 24. Second of all, take any such statements about Russian wonder weapons with a grain of salt. We all know that Putin’s radioactive missiles never flu more than few miles.

  3. Sure the US has not centralized propaganda machine THere are multiple sources in 2003 that called out the fact that Saddam did not have WMD

  4. Even so, mounting a large hypersonic missile to the ole undercarriage will kill this plane’s stealth (for what stealth it had to begin with). I thought they were going to mount them to non-stealth planes…

  5. I remember him. His BS (i.e. propaganda) was second to none. He tried arguing with me once that the heat and pressure of an explosion doesn’t destroy biological or chemical agents… Whatever happened to him? Did his troll factory get relocated?

  6. I hate fake news and Russia is a factory of fake news. So when I am telling real facts it may seem to people like you that I ” throw rocks at Russia”. I dislike government sponsored propaganda.

  7. US has not centralized propaganda machine. News comming out from US is varied by the souces and close to the actual facts of the matter. Russian media is entirely controlled by one person Putin. EVERYTHING comming out of Russian media is propaganda that has been made to look like a different version of reality. Putin, his generals are lying on camera to the entire world every day. I don’t think Putin is capable of telling the truth.

  8. About a year ago there was a character here named Phaeton. He used to argue with me about such things as Su-57 and Armata tanks. I told him then that the Russian Su-57 project financing is entirely dependent on India buying FGFA from Russia and I PREDICTED that India is likely to withdraw from FGFA and buy F35 from the US instead. I predicted that Russia is not going to make more that 20 of Su-57. Phaeton told me Russian Su-57 project is separate from FGFA and that Russia will make hundreds of them no matter what. I also told him Russia has no money to make more than a hundred Armata tanks and he said Russia will make thousands. Well few month later we KNOW Russia is buying only 13 Su-57 and only a 100 Armata tanks. We also know that India has publically stated that Su-57 is NOT STEALTHY, HAS POOR RADAR, POOR ENGINE and POOR AVIONICS. Which is also what I said then to Phaeton. What can I say I am good at spotting Russian FAKE NEWS and have pretty good idea of the real state of things having to do with Russia.

  9. What I dislike is Russian propaganda. It is just producing fake news by the ton. This 24 number is just another example. Russia mentions some fake number like that and media as NBF picks it up.

  17. The Russian/Chicom military shows are just that. White-walled tires and jumping through fire hoops with an occasional cinderblock breaks over the tummy.

  18. US government may try to lie but they know lies is a huge risk because US media may catch and expose them. If that happens it’s a huge scandal and people will be fired and even go to jail. Putin can and does lie all he wants knowing that Russian media will never try to expose him. Putin was just exposed by Bellincat about “turists” Petrov and Bashirov. Putin is so used to spuing lies and not being exposed he is taking too much risks.

  19. Home and Garden, really, are you kidding me? He knew a lot of useless info about military. Now I am curious why. Was there a reason or that’s what I.R.A. does to older folk. He was very enthusiastic about his “work ” like he actually believed the B.S. he was saying. I feel sorry for the guy. How many years left till 65/pension?

  20. Media naturally had no access to real information on that matter and all they had was CIA statements on the matter. So bad example.

  28. It is always best to just assume the Russians are hyping their abilities. An economic the size of Italy cannot compete with the US when it comes to weapon development and procurement. Labor in Russia might be cheaper than in the US but not that much cheaper.

  29. In the cold war the US would hype the Soviet Union weapon capabilities. Now the Russian do their own hyping.

  30. So at mach 6 will the missile be able to lock onto an American stealth fighter or bomber? It is not how fast you get there that counts but will you be able to hit the target when you reach.

  42. This is actually a good point that’s not in service to your thesis. The CIA lies about WMDs in Iraq were so compartmentalized that even the rest of the intelligence community didn’t realize it was manufactured intel. This actually works in disservice to your claim that all USG does is deliberately spread misinformation. As a matter of fact what took place was bureaucratic institutionalization of information. One office said “we have this intel and here’s how we got it” and everyone else in the IC took it on good faith that it was genuine, even WITHIN other parts of the CIA. For it to have been this enormously machinated conspiracy, everyone would have had to know they were telling a lie.

  44. And how is it that you now know there wasn’t? Oh yea, US media. It takes time for investigative journalism to expose these lies, the difference is that there is no investigative journalism in Russia. At least, none that allow you to live past 35.

  46. The only reason you’re ever aware of what the USG lies about is because of whistleblowers and exposes. Now you’re trying to say that whistleblowers and exposes don’t even exist. If they didn’t exist you wouldn’t even know USG lies. This is what’s different between Russia and US. US public is aware that it is lied to, Russian public is not.

  50. This is what I wonder, you would need pretty good sensor integration to actually lock onto something 300 km away. This is only going to happen over your areas of good AA coverage, right? Can’t imagine this would work out at sea or over hostile territory.
