Self-driving cafes, offices, homes and more from Ikea design

Ikea designed seven autonomous vehicles as a visual exploration of how fully autonomous vehicles could one day enable a more fulfilling, everyday life.

The design studio/research lab came up with designs for autonomous vehicles that would be extensions of our cafes, homes and offices.

  1. Ikea stuff might be very cheap, but they tend to be very flimsy, are made of rubbish materials, and are put together by the consumer which means that for most people parts are on backwards, half the fasteners are missing, and one leg is never the same height as the others. Which of these features is most attractive in a car?

  3. The very cheap one 🙂 Granted all cheap furniture tend to be made of sawdust with an topping. On the other hand people who has problem with ikea furniture should not do anything technical with their cars. My favorite story was a guy who pulled apart an outboard motor to change some part, he had one part left over then assembled but it worked so he went out fishing as it was an shoal nearby. All went well and he got lots of fish, however he got a bit close to an reef so he pulled the engine into reverse to pull away. This locked it up, yes the part had to do with the reverse mode, luckily it was other boats nearby.
