Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HyperloopTT, HTT) and Dar Al-Handasah (founding member of the Dar Group) will bring the Abu Dhabi commercial hyperloop system to reality in 2019. Construction of the Hyperloop commercial track is targeted to begin in Q3 2019.
Dar Al-Handasah joins the project as design lead and as the latest investor in HyperloopTT. Dar Al-Handasah’s team includes Dar Group members: Perkins+Will (architects, USA), T.Y. Lin International (engineers, USA), GPO Group (engineers, Spain) and Currie & Brown (cost management consultants, UK).
About HyperloopTT
In 2016, HTT had investments totaling more than $100 million, including an equity investment of $31.8 million, and total in-kind and land value investments of $77 million.
HTT has not publicly demonstrated a speed record. HTT has not said how its 720 mile-per-hour levitating train would handle curves and braking. Hyperloop TT is still building its first test track in Toulouse, France.
HTT announced a prototype of a commercial passenger pod, covered in sensors to enhance safety.
HTT received an investment from international design group Dar Al-Handasah, which will help build the HyperloopTT commercial track and peripheral buildings.
In July, 2018, HyperloopTransportation Technologies signed a deal in China. HyperloopTT and Tongren Transportation and Tourism Investment Group will make a hyperloop in China. This is the first hyperloop agreement with China and marks the twelfth agreement for HyperloopTT and the third commercial agreement for HyperloopTT following announcements in Abu Dhabi and Ukraine earlier in 2018. The China effort will start with a 10-kilometer test track.
