Rethink Robotics has gone out of business

href=”https://www.rethinkrobotics.com/”>Rethink Robotics is shutting down. Rethink developed collaborative robots.

Rethink was trying to sell itself but the deal fell through and the robotics firm has to shut down.

Danish firm Universal Robots has 60% of the collaborative robotics market.

Universal Robotics launched their E-Series of cobots.

The new collaborative robot platform is intended to enable faster development for a wider variety of applications than the standard line.

Rethink Robotics had competitive products but there was more aggressive pricing from Universal Robotics and not a wide enough range of solutions.

Established robotics companies (ABB, Yaskawa, Kuka, and Fanuc) made competing collaborative robots.

Global sales of collaborative robots have been rising quickly. The market is expected to reach $13 billion by 2025 and become one-third of all industrial robot sales by 2025.

  1. I guess they are going back to robots that obvious jobs instead of add productivity to them. Wow! Who saw that happen!

  3. This is unfortunate. One of the distributors I buy from has an applications engineer who trained on the ReThink robots and began repping them last year. He has one in his office and I was planning to spend a Friday learning how to program it, some Friday when I am not busy (ha ha). I guess thats out now.
