Low-cost batteries are critical to Tesla’s main products of electric cars and battery storage systems. Tesla has patented a new battery system.
The patent describes a new battery cell chemistry that will have faster charging and discharging, better longevity, and even lower cost.
The patent is titled – “Novel battery systems based on two-additive electrolyte systems”.
It usually takes five additives to improve battery performance but the breakthrough is that Tesla can improve batteries with only two additives.
