There are various telescopes in the $100-700 price range. The smartphone mounts are about $15-25. The telescopes have about 65X to 600X magnification.

There are also optical lens systems for telescoping magnification that attach to your smartphone. Those typically have a magnification of 12X to 100X and some even 600X. Hauwei and Samsung have some phones with optical zoom up to about 50X.

  1. Really, its hard to get good light microscope images above 400x due to the poor field of view. So in practice, I usually never had useful metallography photos above that.

  2. I found a usb plug and play 1000x microscope on amazon for $22. Full traditional one for $72…

    Edit: Just found one for $16.99
