Tesla Shanghai Should Produce 550,000 Cars in 2021

Tesmanian reports that according to several industry insiders, Tesla Gigafactory Shanghai plans to produce about 550,000 EVs in 2021. This plan includes 300,000 Model 3s and 250,000 Model Ys. Tesla Gigafactory has issued ordering requirements to core component suppliers.

Yesterday on November 7, Tesmanian reported Tesla Giga Shanghai: Model Y Production Starts by the end of November and targets 5000 weekly production in 2021. This would mean a few thousand China Model Y’s built and delivered in December.

This does not include the Tesla production from Fremont which should be about 500,000 cars. It also does not include any production from Berlin and Texas. It seems likely that Berlin will start production early in 2021 and Texas should start production in mid-2021.

  1. You can bet they'll be frantically reverse engineering the technology while ignoring patents so that they can produce their own version.
