Self-Driving Semi Truck Company TuSimple Raises Over $1 Billion

TuSimple claims its self driving technology makes it possible for heavy trucks to see 1,000 meters away and react 15 times faster than a human. They are currently self driving on highways and going between truck depots outside of cities, The also can operate nearly continuously and using less fuel than trucks on the road today.

TuSimple currently operates in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, with plans to expand nationwide by 2024.

TuSimple’s Level 4 driverless trucks operate with a safety driver behind the wheel to monitor the system in autonomous mode.

  1. I'm of the opinion that we should make generic visibility housing units and then farm out the visibility modules to outside companies.
I want the best vehicle with the best visibility. I shouldn't have to choose a great vehicle with poor visibility or a garbage vehicle with great visibility.
Make them swappable. Make it a standard that can be replaced or upgraded.
