Elon Meeting With Hyundai CEO This Weekend to Discuss Cooperation

Elon Musk will meet Samsung CEO Lee Jae-yong and Hyundai CEO Chung Eui-sun in Paris in early August. It is reported they will dine in Paris this weekend. They will also discuss the development of next-generation technologies and explore ways to cooperate.

The meeting was reportedly made at the suggestion of Chairman Lee Jae-yong.

Elon says Tesla has a clear path to doubling average miles between interventions in August. I, Brian Wang, believe the path to doubling miles between interventions is eliminate the obstacle interventions and merge the highway and city driving software stacks. Tesla would reach 2000 miles between intervention and this would be 10x better than 12.3.6 and 20 times better than v11. The chinese and other car makers have self driving systems at the level of FSD version 11 or worse. Other companies can only advance to Tesla FSD 12.5.X level with 2 billion miles of data.

Elon said Tesla is working with regulatory authorities in other countries to roll out supervised FSD worldwide.

A Detailed Usage Report for FSD 12.5.1

Honest Tesla FSD 12.5 & 12.5.1 on AI4/HW4 model 3 review after ~400 miles.

After about 400 miles using FSD 12.5.1 on assertive mode I’ve been mind blown. Previous versions were great but this one is different. Different in an incredible way. It drives with confidence, accuracy, and safety. I have only had to intervene a total of 1 time (not including parking lots).

Pros/improvements I’ve felt from previous versions:

Always turns onto the correct lane in intersections.

Switches lanes with accuracy and precision in a timely manner. (Lane dancing is gone) . Makes decisions quickly but safely at the same time. (previous versions would sometimes switch lanes late leading to missed turns)

Keeps flow with traffic, doesn’t go too fast or too slow.

Proceeding through Stop signs/unprotected left turns have drastically improved; no more hesitation. When clear it takes off. (Previous versions would stop creep stop creep stop creep and it would be very tedious and unhuman like).

No more Wheel Nag. This makes the driving experience so much more convenient not having to touch the wheel every 20-30 seconds.

Cons:

I have only ran into 3 “issues” so far

One; the car not stopping for small geese in a parking lot I was at. The visuals showed a dark shadow like object but the car slowed and started proceeding through anyway (I had to intervene).

Two; It hugs the curbs a little too close to my liking at times.

Three; flashing red lights are still a problem. (My only city/highway disengagement).

Overall in my 400 or so miles of using FSD 12.5.1 I would give it a 9.8/10 driver rating in city and highway.

I don’t think we are far away from having unsupervised (no cabin camera nag).

Now one might ask why should I use FSD when I can drive myself ?

Well there are many reasons.

1. Safety: Many cameras (more than the two eyes humans have) constantly watching every direction of the car protecting not only you but others around you. It’s easy for humans to become distracted resulting in accidents but a computer is programmed to be functional and alert at all times.

2. Battery usage/range: I get much better range and performance when using FSD vs manual driving. I tend to gun it sometimes and not utilize the regenerative breaking to its optimal capability, however FSD does resulting in better range and mileage use.

3. Convenience: FSD can automate driving tasks such as highway cruising, lane changes, and navigating through traffic, which can make driving more relaxed and less stressful. (Especially for people that have anxiety pertaining to driving in general)

4. Reduced Driver Fatigue: By handling routine driving tasks, FSD helps reduce driver fatigue, especially on long trips.

5. Navigation: I don’t know how many times I’ve missed exits or turns due to error but FSD has been tremendous when it comes to this making real time adjustments to avoid traffic and reduce travel time.

With that being said, once this thing becomes unsupervised, it will truly change the way of traveling in so many ways. This is the greatest invention since the internet.

  1. FSD should use navigation better to just not take unprotected left hand turns unless absolutely necessary

It should route better to avoid these period

UPS routes only take right hand turns if possible

Elon always preaches best is less or no solution is best so practice what you preach

  2. Given that it takes at least 2 years for another automaker to design and set up manufacturing. This would be a brand new model with Tesla FSD inside, that has the cameras, the chip, enough vehicules to test in shadow mode and some time for adapting the neural net you need reach an agreement long beforehand. Tesla said AI5 would reach volume production in 2026 that seems about right for Hyundai to also have the same Samsung manufactured chip.

  3. The nexus in South Korea of a global automotive manufacturer, a major semiconductor manufacturer in particular HBM memory chips used in AI accelerators, a well educated but underpaid workforce, and a government with a major chip on it’s shoulder being in third or fourth place, is potentially interesting to Musk.

We have been told rumors of a major automotive tie-up , Hyundai would fit the bill without excessive concessions to the local company from Tesla (unlike China)…

So Brian, any new coverage on the FSD motorcycle death?

    • yeah…he’s still dead.
EVERYONE with a Tesla is well aware it’s SUPERVISED FSD, you must still pay attention. 1-2 years from now, probably fine to sleep, but that day, isn’t today.
