Ukraine has taken a few hundred square kilometers of territory in Russia in the Kursk region.
This is an escalation of the Ukraine Russia war.
IF Ukraine can hold the territory then it would be possible for an exchange of territory to occur in a possible peace settlement.
It does increase the probability that Russia would use weapons of mass destruction to remove Ukraine forces. This could be gas, biological or tactical nuclear weapons.

I feel sorry for both Ukrainians and Russians. Both forced into this genocide scheme by “others”.
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.
The “others” may find at some point being done unto what they have been doing to others.
The powers that be are trying for a wider war before the possible election of Donald Trump.
As Randolph Bourne wrote, “War is the health of the state.”
“The blog covers a wide array of disruptive technologies and trends including Space, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Self-driving cars, Global electrification, Medicine, Anti-aging Biotechnology, and Nanotechnology.”
So why is this war sh1t posted here? This is just standard news. We can get updates and analysis on current events elsewhere.
Your right, and have posted before why I love this site. is it’s usually about technology. And it’s also about how technology impacts, if not affects and creates a society at any one moment. Know the difference between culture and society? Culture” is long term. Society is what happens to a culture at any one moment. That’s why trends in music, or fashion changes in any growing culture. The introduced “changes” happen in any culture” because as a society the events that happen matter. Guess what gang? It’s what you do right now, that predicts what the future will bee. DEAL WITH IT!
I have just heard very open source media, Ukraine has attacked Russian territory. Know what? Russia is getting what they deserve! Russia started this war. Know they get what those idiots deserve.
Why did my last post just get blanked (not posted) because my last post, which responded to, was an observation (a negative one) on an assault by Russia on the free nation of Ukraine?
I can see the, (run by outsiders), Ukraine male genocide program is in good shape. Very shortly, they will have many more dead Ukrainian males to celebrate their bloodlust.
As Michal replied I am amazed that a student can earn 100$ per hour would you see this websites …………………….
I get paid over 💵200$💵 per hour working from home with 2 kids at home. I never thought I’d be able to do it but my best friend earns over 💵10k💵 a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless. Heres what I’ve been doing..
🙂 AND GOOD LUCK.:)

Excuse me? Who the hell do you work for? Your language tells me you work for Putin. Allow me to say how you use words in the English language, and American vernacular you are obvious NOT familiar with. Not even close. People who try to use terms that have nothing to do with what they “try” to to say, is scary, and stupid. Points: The words you use like “Ukraine male genocide” are meaningless, when all the Ukrainian people are trying to do is protect their freedom. Putin wants to take that away. Putin is “The Borg” Since he can’t invent anything new, he has to steel whatever others HAVE created. Oh so pathetic.
And something we must protect ourselves, and other nations, against. Always.
How much to you get paid to shill for Putin?
The Kursk region is part of historic Ukraine. Know why Putin is so desperate to “control Ukraine”? Since I can’t peek into his his mind (hell, I’d be terrified to even THINK of going there.) Ukraine has the most productive crop producing farms in all of Europe. No wonder Putin want’s to steel what he can’t create. Ever hear of “the Borg”. (It’s from Star Trek). The “Borg” can’t invent anything, so they have to steal `what others have done, as opposed to inventing anything new. What do you think? .
Here’s a novel idea. After outsiders, a Jewish billionaire from Switzerland, took over Ukraine in a coup and then started shelling and mass murdering Russian populations in eastern Ukraine for over seven years, and then, to top it off the coup leaders tried to join NATO, why it’s just possible, that after much fruitless negotiation, he decided that the only way to stop them was to kick their ass. And here we are with the Ukrainian bloodlust Male genocide program in full swing. Very successful so far.
But as so many of these “schemes” prove, they are very successful until…they are not, and then the wailing and gnashing of the teeth begin.
Good Lord, who IS your Master? I’ve noticed several basic things about people who use your words. And the way they use them, Hardly a “novel” idea just an observation. Wow, you really don’t get it do you?. Your mind is obviously controlled by a dictatorship. First, you express fear in other people having freedom. Oh, that’s awful. Prove to me, your not a Russian operative. Well, good luck….
HAHA let’s talk about words. How instead of talking about the actual facts behind the words, you try to derail thought by obfuscating word salad. Typical “influence” tactics.
The question is, did a billionaire from Switzerland come to run Ukraine? Was there a coup? Did western Ukrainians shell eastern Ukraine, which has a predominately Russian population? Did Putin say that western negotiators were not truthful in negotiations? Has the total control of Ukraine been successful?
None of your responses have anything to do with facts. This sort of weak “influence tactic” mind twist has very little ability to be effective. It’s so overused that it’s power is much diminished. I encourage you to continue to use it.
Why do you call this an escalation ? An escalation is doing something the enemy doesn’t. In this case they’re doing the same as russia, invading foreign territory.
The twisted logic of Russia seems to think that all the fighting so far, even the initial attack on Kyiv, was all done on Russian soil.
From what I have read, the US and NATO warned Russia to not use nukes in Ukraine or they would get involved. However I do have to wonder what the response is supposed to be if Russia nukes its own territory.
The response would be hilarity and mirth to watch Russians poop their own bed.
An outclassed enemy, (note with nukes) and an utterly mafia like unprofessional military, makes them MORE dangerous. A “professional” military follows certain rules. Russia has the bombs, (including many of the “big ones”), bullets, tanks , ships, etc. But not the rules. The Russian military has a brutal internal cultural history. The hazing army conscripts go threw makes a fraternity paddling seem like a Unitarian church service. And that’s a very weak comparison. No kidding, it’s “the mob”, with nukes.
There’s nothing at all humorous about Russia, who’s only two real assets are oil, and a powerful military that’s basically run like a street gang. Honestly, that’s a VERY accurate comparison. [By the way, when was the last time you bought ANYTHING that said “Made in Russia”? I’d love it if Russia made products we, and others wanted to buy. Capitalism is actually a world wide stabilizing force. Would you nuke a large number of people who owed you money? Hell no, you’d try to collect. If that adds one more reason to pause before pushing “the button”, works for me.
Karl Marx never “got that”. His rich friends put him up and paid his bills. He talked about “the masses”, but never the most important part of any society, the individual people in any society. But I digress. One last thing, it would be fabulous if the traitor Snowden, who became a Russian citizen thanks to direct intervention by Putin (golly Wally, wonder why the former NSA cryptographer was given citizenship by Putin’s DIRECT order.
I hope they draft the bastard. I hope the Russian army beats his ass. Justice delayed, but I would love that outcome.

Big [bombs] Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Well I’m rather upper class, high society
God’s gift to ballroom notoriety
And I always fill my ballroom, the event is never small
The social pages say I’ve got the biggest [bombs] of all
[Chorus]
I’ve got big [bombs], I’ve got big [bombs]
They’re such big [bombs] and they’re dirty big [bombs]
And he’s got big [bombs] and she’s got big [bombs]
(But we’ve got the biggest [bombs] of them all)
[Verse 2]
And my [bombs] are always bouncing, my ballroom always full
And everybody comes and comes again
If your name is on the guest list, no one can take you higher
Everybody says I’ve got great [bombs] of fire
[Chorus]
I’ve got big [bombs], oh, I’ve got big [bombs]
‘N’ they’re such big [bombs], dirty big [bombs]
And he’s got big [bombs], and she’s got big [bombs]
(But we’ve got the biggest [bombs] of them all)
[Verse 3]
Some [bombs] are held for charity and some for fancy dress
But when they’re held for pleasure, they’re the [bombs] that I like best
My [bombs] are always bouncing to the left and to the right
It’s my belief that my big [bombs] should be held every night
Of course, we DID warn them. Problem? Russia has vast conventional forces and arms that are undisciplined, and very often not in any “chain of command”. Putin spends a lot of time trying not to be taken out by his own people, let alone have command of his own military. Being a dictator is such a bitch.
Nuclear weapons are the idiot nations response to “national security” Hell, I’m a biologist, and with the right materials, EVEN I could build nukes. Problem: Nukes are shockingly easy to make, and to many “world leaders” think having them makes by default, their country “strong”. Bull S***. Getting them, makes you a target of those of us who had them, before you did. No s***. Make no mistake: Your get a deliverable nuke? We have a ballistic missel with your name, on it’s hot little warhead. Fear can be useful as an instrument of national policy, if rational, based on actual facts, and decent in it’s objectives. IMO.
The USA has the most formidable “conventional”, aka: non nuclear forces military the world has ever seen. It’s members are very well trained, and taught to follow rules of law. The people who serve in our military, who I’ve met and worked with have such dedication, and love for our country, I can’t describe. (Trust me, I’M NEVER at a loss for words, But occasionally…)
It’s That passion, That love, that makes our military beyond formidable. It’s the best.
“…It’s That passion, That love, that makes our military beyond formidable. It’s the best…”
No. no, no, you have this wrong. It’s the Men in dresses and diversity that make us the best.
North Korea went from not having nukes to having nukes. And nothing has been done to effectively stop them. As they continue to get more nukes, at some point the cost of attacking them becomes too high — mutually assured destruction.
The 22nd Brigade and 82nd Brigades are only a 7 hour drive from Moscow. Prigozhin’s Wagners made the trip on one week. They were met by Moscow police armed with sub machine guns, no rifles, no tanks, no artillery because Putin is afraid of a rebellion. Moscow is defenseless. Attentive Ukrainian generals know this.
I’m aware of the “hand ringing” many have of Ukraine targeting targets in Russia, or even troops going into Russian territory. Don’t like it Russia? Don’t invade another country. This ain’t complicated. Just heard Ukraine got some F-16’s (don’t know how many). I talked to an F-16 pilot years ago who said “you don’t fly the F-16, you ride her” Go team!
I hope they can seize this opportunity to push their Leopards and Abrams as far forward as possible. I’d be willing to sacrifice a few Patriots if it meant taking down a significant number of Russian jets, using F-16s, ATACMS, and other advanced weaponry. Napoleon’s strategy of focusing on a specific part of the enemy, defeating them decisively, and then advancing rapidly is a proven tactic. However, not everyone is capable of executing complex maneuvers that require the coordination of air force, artillery, armor, and infantry in a concentrated effort to break through and exploit the enemy’s weaknesses.
Seems absurd.
Though, I believe that Ukraine will eventually ‘outlast’ the Russkies and ‘re-inhabit’ if not expunge, all russianess from the currently occupied territories to Crimea, this appears to be a circus sideshow with little military, scare-tactic, or Ukraine-hurrah value, likely stretching the line, even though not continuous, when the Forces can not be spared. As the drone tech and Ukraine defense-industry accelerate under the support of the West, civilization-well-wishers, and others, formal russian lines, bases, and any ordered formations will eventually be dispersed as the axis of evil supporting the russians sputters and stalls with inferior tech, silly coordination, and slap-dash recruits stumbling about. A total farce of the Russians this past decade or so in Ukraine.
The more that I hear about the huge armor and soldier losses with each Russian push, the more this feels like that episode in season 8 of games of thrones with the winter zombie hordes crashing up against Winterfell; relentless, mindless, and unstructured – piling over each other to scale the walls – when all we need is a single round into Putin’s pale, comb-over pate to end this all – like the winter Night King, shattered.
They are trying to place a key Russian rail line under fire control. If they are successful they will force Russian trains to divert approximately 400 miles to the east before returning southwest to the hub at Rostov on Don. Seems worthwhile to me tbh.
They could also try to seize control of the Kursk NPP. Russia keeps a significant amount of munitions stored there assuming (correctly) that they won’t be targeted. That would be a nice 2-for-1: they would get something to bargain with to reclaim the Zaporizhzhia NPP and they would get some ammo (and deny said ammo to Russia). Again, seems worthwhile.
Finally, the domestic Russian audience is fed constant bs propaganda about the status of the war. The Russian government cannot hide the Kursk incursion. The longer the Ukrainians hold part of Kursk the more they undermine the credibility of the Russian government. Again, seems worthwhile.
I can’t disagree with anything you’re saying — and the suggested objectives are interesting — but, you’re being too thoughtful and strategic. Russia is a bully, brawler country with little regard for its own population except as mannequins that fill out the big open spaces and to forward the allegedly glorious culture of past generations – ultimately disposable in Putin’s and the oligarchs’ eyes. That being said, there are many indications that most citizens are pro-Russian expansion, pro-world influence beyond russia’s obvious economic and culture light ‘weight’, and militaristic in undertaking these. So, the citizens are complicit at worst and indifferent at best — unlikely to be swayed by the assumed (in their eyes) Ukranian peasants lumbering through their nearby woods — for what are they compared to the nazis or the NATO countries or their misguided fringe federal territories in various stages of rebellion? At the end of the day, fear and blind-motherland duty (and a chance of getting out of prison) compells endless gobs of poorly supported troops and shabby equipment on adventures across eastern europe lead by officers in thrawl of misguided glory and personal terror. The russian bases and supply lines are childish in operation, placement, and effectiveness — more likely flop houses for the derelict troops and disgraced commanders. The Ukranians on the other hand, face a truly existential crisis in a day and age where land war and brutal annexation is likely to become a thing of the past in remotely modern parts of the world in the next decade. You lose it now – you’ll never get it back. Also, Ukraine is one of the very few eastern European countries to very probably become pro-growth and westernized, even more so than Poland – and with signicnt linkage to the middle east and mediterranean – a critical economic piece of the EU and NATO and europe proper.
To send some top equipment and likely elite forces to poke the Bear, that could otherwise be used to slice up lines in more critical or operationally significant areas as western support becomes tentative and unpredictable, though not likely diminished, is madness. Silliness all the way around – though I get it – this was likely Russia’s last chance to provide any real front and face of intimidation to eastern Europe – there last chance to promote past the G20, but now it is but relegation they’ll receive and hopefully a loss of a UN security council presence.
Might have been better for those Ukraine troops to take out that Russian enclave, Kaliningrad – though the direct route there is unclear.
This is excellent news. Many areas of the battlefield are so heavily mined that advancing is extremely difficult. It’s crucial that they secure as much territory as they can within logistical limits. If they manage to push far enough, they might be able to outflank Russian forces near the Kharkiv border and try to get them from behing, which would be a brilliant maneuver.
It’s also important to note that Russian territory is almost free of mines, giving them an advantage. However, if holding onto the captured Russian territory proves impossible, they should focus on sabotaging key infrastructure—destroying roads, railways, and laying mines. This will create significant challenges for the Russians as they attempt to reclaim the area, forcing them to face the same difficulties. Let them taste their own medicine.
