Sooner or later someone will be on to the thought that if you impress a neural net into a hologram it will be vastly, stupendously faster. Holograms store stupendous amounts of information. It would be time consuming to make the first one and take a lot of thought on how to set it up but when made, easy to mass produce copies of the model.
Using phase in holograms could make a myriad of neural paths in a small amount of media. It would be read only, so the idea is to impress every single thing you can think of into one hologram and maybe have writable logic to organize the read only data store.
But non-emotive non biological systems will not be able to adapt to change, just for kicks. Any “hologram” is a fixed “nature of state”. Living systems change, because it is their nature to change. Trust me. If it’s a bacteria or you, if you do not “change” (ie: adapt) from moment to moment, you both die. (sorry). A hologram may be able to “sing and dance” but it can’t sustain what happens in nature. And that is change. Change is what and will happen, Living systems know this and have always adapted. Our technology that does noes not? In time, it will quickly fall apart.
The “Skynet concept” as I understand it from the “Terminator” movies is based on our surrendering “end result” control over our nuclear weapons. If you call it AI, or whatever, this is a very stupid idea. The end result, that may result in our use of nuclear weapons must be based on a judgment call, not an algorithm. Humans make judgments, computers ad or subtract numbers. AI may process “all the available data faster then one or more humans can”. But it can’t deal with “intangibles”. That goes beyond data. Beyond data implies insight, and data implies what is. Insight is what you want to be. The best way to predict the future? Create it, invent it. All the data in the world can not imagine what does not yet exist. But you can. Do it. (and please, try to be nice).
We don’t have enough electricity to run it
