500+ Starlink Kits Donated for Post-Hurricane North Carolina Communications

Former NASCAR star Greg Biffle says Elon Musk’s @SpaceX has donated 500 @Starlink kits which he will receive tomorrow at 5 AM – He will then immediately fly them out using his helicopters to Western North Carolina to be deployed to restore communication in the region.

North Carolina would have 19,522 working @Starlink kits available today after Hurricane Helene if the FCC had not revoked a grant for SpaceX rural communication.

Three NC State Police units giving us a police escort so that we can quickly deploy Starlinks across the region are literally using MY Window Starlink to communicate with each other!

  1. Starlink is showing up everywhere!

“Ukrainian forces have reportedly destroyed a Russian Shahed-136 long-range attack drone equipped with a Starlink satellite communication terminal.

The terminal is believed to provide a stable satellite communication link for the transmission of data, such as photos, videos, and telemetry information, potentially enhancing the drone’s effectiveness in reconnaissance and strike missions.”

    • I love how that is referred to as a “Russian Shahed” drone when ‘shahed’ is the transliterated Arabic for ‘martyr’ – not very Russian at all. And of course, it’s an Iranian made drone with the Farsi-adopted Arabic naming convention via Islamic tradition, so naming origin is clear enough, but it’s still a hilarious thing to read from a linguistics perspective, heh. Say what you want about useless death and destruction, but the blossom of multi-culturalism is worth it! 😉

  2. Good to see the American people pick up the slack, of what should be a government led operation. This administration is the worst.

Nice job Elon, the internet is vital for communication, and few things are more important then that.

    • Its a mystery why all those Republican senators and representatives voted against extra funding for FEMA (Including Matt Gaetz of Florida). 82 of them voted to shut down the government last month. The GOP don’t seem to agree with you that it should be a government led response….

      • Well, with a Government providing policies like Open Border, mandates, lockdowns, funding endless and seemingly counter-product wars, racking up economy crushing debt for generations to come… it is challenging to get them to do the right thing with funding so the GOP is attempting to be responsible but you can’t make some people do the right thing either. If the Government does things like have an Open Border resulting in added daily liv3s lost, then it should be shut down.

      • They haven’t done anything with the funding they have. How would giving them more funding to sit on help?

This is a leadership crisis, not a funding crisis.
