There are two propulsion experiments on the Rogue Systems OTP2 satellite.
The nanosats database has descriptions of the systems.
The current satellite movement is the other propulsion system.
I only care about the IVO quantum drive. It has not been turned in yet. If they are testing the other system as they appear to be doing then it could be some weeks before they can reset and rest the quantum drive.
The thrust expected for the IVO Quantum drive is 1.75 millinewtons. The small satellite probably weighs about 20 kilograms.
If the thrust ends up being 1.75 millinewtons. The time required is approximately 11.9 seconds for the thruster to impart a velocity change of 90 meters per day to the satellite.

I think it is worthwhile to follow the drive they are testing now. It has an ISP 3 to 4 times that of chemical propulsion and uses a storeable propellant ( water and/or a mixture of water with dissolved boron) with more than 10 times the thrust of the IVO drive.
Admittedly the Firestar Water Ion Thruster does require fuel but on the other hand it does not require new laws of physics.
I want them to test both of them.
Seeing is believing. I don’t believe the quantum drive will work.
It might raise the satellite by interacting with the earths electric field or the solar wind
What was the point of the past 2 articles if the drive wasn’t even on
Someone was said to have noticed the that the sat was doing things that could be attributed to the IVO drive and folks jumped on it like reddit trolls on an EM Drive post.
Turns out that a previously unknown and rather mysterious *OTHER* drive on the same sat was apparently activated before the IVO test was to start… I think 🙂
I did not know it was not turned on. I did not know there was a second drive experiment. I found out after the first two articles were made. It appeared that something important was happening. Mistakes happen.
Besides Richard Mansell is a bit secretive about drive updates of late.
I suppose he doesn’t want to overhype it, but without more info it’s easy to jump to conclusions.
Hmmm, sounds more confusing than ever….
