Bloomberg reports that xAI is in advanced talks to secure multi-gigawatts of AI Data Center compute capacity in Saudi Arabia.

It would be a long term lease for MULTI-GIGAWATT scale data centers in the Kingdom. There would be a separate 200 MW data center for immediate deployment. The smaller data center would be about 100,000 to 200,000 GPUs.
They are exploring sites to build ai factories in UAE and Africa with low-cost energy infrastructure.

Probably he wants to speed it up, speed is a big factor in AI race and SA offered land, permits, solar, and less hassle to build new plants.
