it is not life, it is signs of ancient life by biological remain elements. Elements left in the ratios of what was life. Billion years ago. If microbial life was found what would be the organization or entity to make a cease and desist enforcement? SpaceX has 8000 starlink satellites and out of generosity they are working to make them less of a problem for astronomers using telescopes. Nothing is stopped but reasonable modifications to minimize impact. SpaceX would have the ability to bring samples and to bring scientists to the sites at scale. Just like archeologists get to work at some digs of ancient roman ruins side by side to the buildings in modern rome.
Once life is established on a planet it is *EXTREMELY* difficult to eradicate it.
On Earth, the deep sea life around thermal vents does not depend on photosynthesis, you would need to boil the oceans to destroy it.
I have no idea how you would destroy the life in the deep rocks of earth, miles underground it too does not depend on photosynthesis.
A simple truism is: if there are oceans of liquid water for hundreds of millions of years, there will be life.

The only cause I can see that might have put an end to life on Mars, is something you will not find anywhere on Earth: Nitrogen, essential to Earthly life, is almost totally absent from Mars at this point.
The partial pressure of N2 in the Martian atmosphere is about 0.00018 Bar. In Earth’s atmosphere it’s 0.78 Bar, over 4000 times higher.
And Nitrogen does not easily form solid compounds, even on Earth it is barely a trace element in igneous rocks, it’s present in significant amounts in some sedimentary rocks, but probably there it is of organic origin.
It’s possible Martian life died of nitrogen starvation after the atmosphere was stripped, as all the nitrogen that cycled through the atmosphere was blown away by the solar wind. Every other element essential to life is present in some form or other, but Mars has practically no Nitrogen.
So, if you’re going to find life on Mars at present, it likely won’t be on the surface, but instead deep underground, where the nitrogen tied up in the biosphere hasn’t yet had time to be lost.
