Elon Musk has just confirmed that 𝕏 Money is working internally and will start extending to outside beta users soon. 𝕏 Money is a digital payment service providing peer-to-peer transfers, a wallet for storing funds, and Visa integration for bank/debit card connections. It may add crypto and investment features later. Currently in internal beta, expanding to external users soon.
REMINDER – Elon Musk and his partners created Paypal.
Elon Musk personally verified in a public reply on X that X Money is operational in internal beta and poised for external beta rollout to select users soon. This aligns with X’s aggressive push to embed financial services into its social fabric. This marks a pivotal step in Musk’s vision to rival WeChat’s super-app model, leveraging X’s 650M+ user base for seamless P2P transfers, wallets, and Visa-linked banking— with crypto and investments on the horizon.X Money isn’t just a payments bolt-on; it’s a foundational layer for xAI-enhanced personalization (e.g., AI-driven fraud detection) and broader monetization, potentially unlocking $10B+ in annual revenue by 2027 through transaction fees and ecosystem lock-in. However, regulatory hurdles remain, particularly in high-population states like New York.
The internal beta has been running since at least May 2025, focused on stability testing with Visa integration. X could have a phased U.S. launch of X Money and start in compliant states.
As of mid-2025, X holds MTLs in 41 states and the District of Columbia, covering ~85% of the U.S. population but excluding key holdouts like New York.
Key Milestones and Risks
Regulatory Clearance: Secure NY MTL (target Q4 2025).
Full U.S. coverage requires 50 states/DC; international (EU PSD2 compliance) for 2026.
xAI integration for AI fraud guards.
Visa deal finalized Jan 2025 for card linking; potential Stripe/PayPal backups.
Detailed Services – Digital wallet, Payments, Visa integration
X Money launches as a core digital wallet within the X app, emphasizing frictionless UX:Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Transfers: Instant, low-fee sends via @username or QR. Limits start at $500/day, scaling to $10K.
Digital Wallet: Store USD balances; auto-top-up from linked banks. Supports tipping creators directly (1% fee vs. Patreon’s 8%).
Visa Integration: Link debit/credit cards or ACH banks for deposits/withdrawals; enables in-app purchases (e.g., X Premium via wallet).
Security: Biometrics + xAI ML for real-time fraud; insured up to $250K via FDIC partners.
No crypto at launch—focus on fiat stability—but backend ready for BTC/ETH on-ramps.

should be penny’s per transaction not 2%
This is what I was waiting for before joining X as a paid account. I’ve wanted an alternative to Paypal ever since they got uppity and started ‘curating’ what sorts of transactions they’d permit you to make with your own money.
this is similar to my desire for X to become the everything app. Alternative that could offer better services and without any nanny company issues.
Google/Paypal came out with AP2 Agentic payments protocol. Will XMoney join or create a rival system?
Can never be too rich.
Steam should be adding X Money support ASAP.
