Trump Truth Social is Merging with TAE Technologies Nuclear Fusion

Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the parent company of Truth Social and ticker DJT, has announced a definitive agreement to merge with TAE Technologies, a leading private nuclear fusion energy company, in an all-stock transaction valued at more than $6 billion.Key details of the merger:This creates one of the world’s first publicly traded nuclear fusion companies.

Shareholders of TMTG and TAE will each own approximately 50% of the combined entity on a fully diluted basis.

The deal is expected to close in mid-2026, pending regulatory and shareholder approvals.

TMTG will serve as the holding company, encompassing Truth Social, its financial ventures (like Truth.Fi), and TAE’s operations, including TAE Power Solutions (energy storage for EVs) and TAE Life Sciences (cancer treatments).

Leadership: Devin Nunes (current TMTG CEO) and Michl Binderbauer (TAE CEO) will become co-CEOs. Donald Trump Jr. will join the board.

TMTG commits up to $200–300 million in cash to TAE to accelerate development.

They begin construction in 2026 on the world’s first utility-scale fusion power plant (initially ~50 MWe), with future plants targeting 350–500 MWe, aimed at providing abundant clean energy for AI data centers, national defense, and energy independence.

TAE Technologies’ current demonstrations focus on their research reactors, particularly the Norman (operated until ~2022, achieving stable plasma at over 75 million °C) and the newer Norm (introduced in 2025).

Norm represents their latest breakthrough. It produces stable, fusion-relevant plasma using only neutral beam injection (NBI), eliminating complex formation hardware. This simplifies the design (reducing length/complexity by ~50%), improves efficiency, and sustains high-performance steady-state plasmas at temperatures exceeding 70-75 million °C (with upgrades targeting 100 million °C).

Specific figures for fusion power output in these demos are low (research-scale, not net-positive yet). No public exact values for the Lawson triple product (nτT, where n = density, τ = confinement time, T = temperature) are widely reported for Norm/Norman, but performance supports scaling to reactor conditions. They have demonstrated p-¹¹B fusion reactions (though minimal yield) and high stability.

For commercialization (2026–2030 and beyond)
A major 2025 breakthrough with Norm allowed TAE to shorten their roadmap, skipping the planned Copernicus reactor (originally for net energy demonstration by late 2020s). Starting in 2026, the combined company plans to site and begin construction on the world’s first utility-scale fusion power plant — initially a ~50 MWe facility, with follow-on plants scaling to 350–500 MWe.

The prototype commercial power plant, Da Vinci, targets operation in the early 2030s to demonstrate net energy (Q > 1) and grid-connected electricity using hydrogen-boron (p-¹¹B) fuel for clean, aneutronic fusion.

Commercial hydrogen-boron fusion power delivery to the grid in the early 2030s, with modular, compact reactors designed for cost-competitiveness and applications like AI data centers.

TAE Technologies’ Field-Reversed Configuration (FRC) Fusion Approach

TAE Technologies’ fusion research centers on an advanced beam-driven Field-Reversed Configuration (FRC), a magnetic confinement method that forms a compact, self-stable plasma structure resembling a smoke ring or elongated toroid (often described as cigar-shaped).

In a standard FRC, the plasma generates its own internal magnetic field through toroidal currents, reversing the direction of an externally applied axial magnetic field. This creates closed magnetic field lines inside the plasma (confining it) while open lines exist outside, with minimal magnetic field in the core—resulting in very high beta (ratio of plasma pressure to magnetic pressure, often near 1).This self-organization reduces the need for complex, powerful external magnets compared to tokamaks, enabling a simpler linear (cylindrical) reactor design that’s easier and cheaper to build, maintain, and scale.

Historically, FRCs offered high potential power density and simplicity but suffered from instabilities and short confinement times. TAE overcomes this by integrating plasma physics with accelerator physics: High-energy neutral particle beams (from proprietary accelerators) are injected tangentially into the plasma. These beams drive current, heat the plasma, fuel it, and actively stabilize it through real-time feedback controls.

A 2025 breakthrough in TAE’s Norm machine (an upgrade from the previous Norman reactor) demonstrated FRC formation using only neutral beam injection (NBI)—eliminating traditional complex formation hardware like theta-pinch coils and plasma collisions. This simplifies the design by ~50%, reduces cost/complexity, and produces stable, high-performance plasmas at fusion-relevant temperatures (>70-75 million °C, with paths to higher).

Key Advantages of TAE’s FRC

Compact and efficient — Linear geometry, fewer magnets, potential for 100x more fusion power output than a comparable tokamak (same field strength/volume).

High stability– Beams suppress instabilities; plasmas become more stable at higher temperatures (like a spinning top).

Versatile fuels– Works with multiple cycles, but optimized for hydrogen-boron (p-¹¹B)—an aneutronic reaction producing three helium-4 (alpha) particles and energy, with no neutrons. This avoids radioactivity, structural damage, and complex thermal cycles (direct energy conversion possible via charged particles).

Cleanest option– Abundant fuels (hydrogen and boron are common), no long-lived waste, ideal for sustainable baseload power.

  1. Turns out, the RUSSIAN government directly owns between 30%-50% of TAE stock!

The Russian owned company Russnano invested about one hundred and twenty million dollars into TAE back in 2012.

Which means, the RUSSIAN government now owns between 15%-25% of Trump Media stock, in the form of ownership in the new fusion company.

Trump is now openly in business with, and profiting from, the Russian government.

    That is INSANE!

    • Those who remember the USSR will remember their official news outlet, Pravda.

      Pravda translates to truth.

So, Trump’s Truth Social is now Pravda Social.

      Crazy.

    • It’s not only insane. It’s also completely unheard of as the only source for this claim that I could find is YOU. But feel free to show us where you got that vague “30-50%” figure.

    • Cash and control of Department of Energy funding.

On December 9th, a meeting between reps of fusion company lobbyists and the Trump Department of Energy folk discussed federal investments of billions in new funding to “promising” fusion companies.

A few days later, merger talks began.

In addition to the stock swap, Trump Media is investing $200 million in cash now, and an additional $100 million later.

Trump now personally owns ~20% of the newly merged and “promising” fusion company.

Today’s surge in his share values have increased his personal wealth by about five hundred million dollars. In one day.

The synergy is between TAE tech, Trump’s cash investment, and his control over Department of Energy funds.

      And the almost certain tran

      • *transfer by DoE of hundreds of millions or billions in funds directly to Trump’s “promising” company.

(An hour+ trying to post, having pop-ups wipe my comment over and over)

      • No one comes here to listen to your tinfoil hat conspiracy theories about Trump. The Democrat Underground messageboard would be a better fit for your schizo posts.

  2. Now just wait until the US government announces massive funding for fusion research, or Trump strong arms the OpenAI group into backing TAE like they do Helion or Commonwealth Systems.

  3. Apologies if I haven’t understood this, but I don’t know about a media company being the parent company of fusion R&D. Lots of thoughts, but something about this rubs me the wrong way. Nothing to do with Trump. But does it not feel somehow seem foreboding for a media company to make a grab for a potential massive energy solution? That feels bad for some reason. I like how I’m acting as if that’s not already something that happens LOL. Still, this strikes me as weird. If it’s just me, then I guess that’s good.

    • Massive energy of this kind has a habit of being far too big of a pie that any government could somehow keep locked away

Once the genie of fusion is out of bottle, it will probably make many people super empowered to make widespread social changes on an unprecedented scale when suddenly energy and thus everything, is dirt cheap and the population of professional political activists in their ample free time is 99% of society.

Thankfully these dinosaurs have no choice. Either that or china will be first.
