Cloudflare operates as a content delivery network and distributed DNS (domain name server) and it is down this morning. This is causing many other sites to be down like X. Its services protect website owners from peak loads, comment spam attacks and DDoS (distributed denial of service) attacks.
UPDATE: Some systems are recovering. You can post on X some of the time. Abuot 1 in 2 or one in 3 attempts.
X’s outage was widespread this morning and likely stemming from their own infrastructure (possibly exacerbated by any Cloudflare issues). Cloudflare had some ongoing fixes/maintenance but wasn’t in full meltdown mode today.
Services appeared to be recovering throughout the morning/afternoon, with reports dropping significantly.
