Elon Musk Triples the Net Worth of Second Richest

It is rare for the richest person or richest family to triple wealth of the next richest. Bill Gates did it briefly in 1999 and Rockefeller did it.

Now Elon Musk has a net worth of $852 billion and Larry Page has almsot $280 billion. Elon has 3.04 times as much wealth.

Elon has about 45.6% of the combined $1.25 trillion SpaceX-XAI-X company.

Back in Dec 2, 2024 Net Worth of the five richest
Elon Musk $353B
Jeff Bezos $231B
Mark Zuckerberg $210B
Larry Ellison $198B
Bernard Arnault $171B

Nelson Rockefeller likely had times where he was 3 to 4 times richer then the next richest person in some years. He had Standard Oil. After adjusting for inflation or looking at share of GDP, Elon Musk is richer than Rockefeller.

  1. Valuing Musk’s wealth strictly by market cap of his sometimes over-hyped companies in an over-heated market may be a foolish paper pyramid chase. Xai and subsidiary X both lose money and will for the foreseeable future, so the quarter trillion dollar valuation doesn’t make sense except in hype terms. Even SpaceX is losing money and time on Starship and its cash cow Starlink is in danger of triggering a mass Kessler event. Sabine Hossenfelder cites dozens of new studies of the danger: https://youtu.be/8ag6gSzsGbc?si=1qHWiLPDb7lxOATB which is growing at an accelerating rate. Starlink alone has to make 800 course corrections per day and rockets have already come close to colliding with their 1000s of satellites (rapidly increasing). Space locations are virtually unregulated and not at all on an international basis except maybe for temporary rocket launches into LEO. It’s the wild west in space and soon there will be an uncontrolled mass shootout.

    • Oh, and Musk has cancelled two models of Teslas and seems to be pivoting to the more competitive robot industry, where Optimus is not leading. Tesla is losing sales and not growing anywhere near the rate it used to.

    • “Even SpaceX is losing time and money on Starship”
      Because it’s in development, dummy.
Your cherry picking makes me think you have a striking bias.

    • The fleet of 10,000 Starlink satellites make 800 course corrections per day when there is a 1 in 1 million chance of a collision. Each Starlink satellite course correct once every 2 weeks.
