Elon Musk told employees in a company-wide email on Monday that Tesla had just passed a rate of 2,000 per week. That was still a big increase from earlier production numbers and Tesla shares recovered some of Monday’s heavy losses in reaction to the report.
Analysts have been projecting that Tesla will miss the 2,500 Model 3 per week projection set for March 31, 2018.
“If things go as planned today, we will comfortably exceed that number over a seven day period!” Musk wrote in the email
“This is already double the pace of 2017!” he wrote. “By the end of the year, I believe we will be producing vehicles at least four times faster than last year.”
