The RWD is too slow and most of all too range-limited. Can we finally admit that only 80% of range, at best, is ever used? Lithium batteries are recommended not to charge to fullest, which takes too long anyway. And range anxiety redlines at 20% of charge remaining for most people too. 80% of 250 range is just 200 miles, and that’s before the Cybertruck does anything useful like a truck is supposed to do.
So, the AWD version is fast enough and has enough range, mostly, at 340 miles, though many people prefer long haul trucks closer to 500 miles. You get that with the range extender, but lose the flat bed and capacity maximums.
The Cybertruck has a lot of roof and rear/front glass. All of this could be fitted with Perovskite or Solar Windows (Onyx, Solar Windows(tm), etc.). Maybe that could extend range, at least while parked?
Something has to be done. The Tesla Semi gets better range than this thing.
What of the reserve prices from 3 years ago?
Tesla had said years ago that the pricing of the trucks was not guaranteed. There has been 20% inflation. Tesla did say they would honor the FSD pricing for the reservations.
I can’t see how this can be anything other than disappointing. Probably 70% of people who were serious about getting in line for the Cybertruck, can’t afford it, at this price.
