Modified Tesla Plaid Drag Racing

Youtuber BoostedBoiz modifies his Tesla Model S Plaid by removing panels, adding in aerodynamics and better wheels. He then drags races it for record times.

They tied the 8.73 second record for the fastest Tesla to go down a drag strip and then got an 8.714 second record.

Car Wow has quarter mile times for all kinds of commercially sold car versions. The production version Tesla Model S plaid has 9.5 to 9.6 second quarter mile drag times.

9.6 seconds is the quarter mile time for a 2020 Bugatti Chiron.
There are some tuned up version of some Nissan GTR 1600 HP with 8.9 second quarter mile times.
A 2021 Rimac Nevera has gotten 8.4 seconds.

A production Pininfarina Battista has 8.55 second quarter mile drag time.

They also added a Honda Odyssey minivan body on top of the Model S Plaid base.

  1. People do run 8.5 quarter mile with cars they build for less than the cost of a model S. Generally, these cars use a Gen3/4 GM V8 fueled with e85, a large single Wuhan war whistle, and ebay launch control. Racers look down on buying speed. How much speed? How much boost? Yes. All of it.

    • I’m surprised Tesla hasn’t bricked this car over the Wi-Fi. They probably will soon after seeing this. He really ruined that car. Roll cage looks like built to placate regs and wouldn’t protect occupant or pass NHRA.

    • No they don’t. Examples, please! There are plenty of myths in the car world about “That guy’s uncle who modified his mustang to 1600 HP for $3000”, and they’re all made up. It takes intense modification and work to get a car to accelerate that fast, and is near-supercar numbers, not something cheaply thrown together in a garage.
