Pentagon leaders say the U.S. Navy has no intention of altering any operations in the region.
Iran has claimed control of the Persian Gulf and the Straits of Hormuz.
Iran has about 100 small patrol boats that look like large speedboats with an automatic weapon and some other weapons on it.
Iran also has anti-ship missiles and mines.

Pi! point is this was not the way it in any way used to be! Only a few years ago there would be talk of war all over the place in case Iran only DARED to make this assumption .. Only a few decades ago , there would have been a revolution in Iran for such a threat Like 1953, Iran government toppled for not selling oil at the price the masters required Like in 1980s when US-friend-later-turned as enemy Saddam Hussein invaded Iran with US support Now.. Like in 2000s when there was talk about war against Iran in all US media just as Iran did not want to bow Now, all this is gone and the US is about to ignore Iran, despite Iran is basically standing up against the uberlords not giving one inch And the US media are haling this as a victory for the US I assume But if only people had memory,, only a few years ago Bill Clinton said it would have never allowed Iran keeping their nculear facilities Or when GWB billed Iran as axis of evil and threatened them with annihilation All this is gone now .. Sign of the times, would have said Prince .. The cojotes are running around the farm of the master and the master can not do much to stand against them anymore He is old and getting weaker by the day The cojotes are awaiting just saying..
Its a bit of a duplicate opinion (which I expressed yesterday and again at times in the past), but I feel that the US Navy, ignoring the saber-rattling of the Iranians is the right approach. Their narrative of superiority is ether vacuous — in which case, ignoring them comes at no peril — or it is concrete and a conflict will arise. If a conflict arises, the USN is not-at-present, but fully capable of either defensively or preëmptively engaging with the patrol boats. They’re surprisingly soft targets in the end: even USN helicopters can take them on without significant threat of retaliatory action. So, maintaining a stance of “go ahead, just try” seems like the best move. After all, a sovereign navy such as the USN is expected to be constantly “tested” in its resolve to maintain the independence of international waterways and the protection of all international transport shift safety. Its like my relationship with the band of coyotes that patrols our neighborhood at night. So long as they leave my goats alone, I leave them alone. But when as they have, tried to take a goat for dinner … hot lead finds its way into their braincases. They learn. Tho’ it takes booster shots from time to time. Canaeform (dog-like) critters are particularly good at remembering bad shît that happens to them as a pack, and trotting wide circles around the kill zone in the future. Same for iranian chihuahuas in speedboats. Just saying GoatGuy

Iran may bluster but they won’t do anything of significance until they are ready to roll on Saudi Arabia. That should be an interesting contest and the aftermath will not be good for the oil producers or their customers. I’m sure Turkey would love it. They are just itching to be the local hegemon again.
Paper boats vs machine guns. Their only real hope would be anti ship missiles fired from land batteries and mine fields.

Just keep a couple of A-10 Warthogs in hot standby.

Coyotes are notoriously easy to shoot, the old man is getting fed up with the vermin and has the tools to exterminate them. Soon, he will have the desire to do so as well. Th eold man grows stronger again and the coyote remain vermin.
Beg all you want toady, be a good lickspittle to your mullah masters. If we want to step on Iran, it will squash like a bug.
It will be very good for non-ME oil producers. Like the US, Russia, Nigeria, Brazil and Norway…to name but a few.
What claim?
I do not think they are going to kill each other. They may well reach an equilibrium
This is your opinion. Other people beg to differ

National Security advisor Bolton urged regime change in Iran by the end of 2018 shortly before getting the job . https://theintercept.com/2018/03/23/heres-john-bolton-promising-regime-change-iran-end-2018/ Now he says “The intent is to drive Iran’s oil exports to zero” – https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/aug/22/us-ready-to-drive-iranian-oil-exports-to-zero-says-us-national-security-adviser. Zero oil exports would collapse the economy of Iran. Bolton is the architect of U.S. sanctions policy towards Iran. Similar sanctions, authorized by the Security Council and supported by all major countries led Iran to the negotiating table to negotiate the JCPOA in 2013. Unlike then, it appears that the U.S. may be supporting groups like the Mujahedeen Khalq to destabilize Iran at a time that the country is already reeling from sanctions. Picture the possibility of a civil war in a country 5 times the size of Syria in the most unstable area of the world.

Those who’ve visited Iran say the locals are lovely people. I wouldn’t wish a war on them, or anyone else. Nor economic collapse.

I don’t think you have a grasp on how much Iran and Saudi Arabia h8 each other. If it was within their power each would exterminate the other.
Meh…most Iranian new releases are meant for domestic consumption, not international policy. Second, punishing Iran just pushes more cheap oil to China. China buys at 1/2 world price from Iran and nobody is going to stop a Chinese tanker.
The locals may be lovely people but the people that rule them are not.

Funny, where have I heard that before?
Not ideal for tiny boats, standoff missiles from Apaches would probably work better.

The old man has been saying this in the past 50 years or so. The coyotes are still there and their nuke program still there The old man is barking to the moon Soon coyotes will have nukes and they will be able to nuke the old man What is the old man going to do next?
They said the same about Christians and protestants in the 1950s so..

No, it would be more like Christians and Protestants during the reformation. You know, when they actually had armies and sh1t and weren’t just bl0wing each other up occasionally.

Keep pushing and I am going to laugh when your coyotes get squashed like bugs. Having nukes are one thing, delivering them is a lot harder. Call me when the vermin have second-strike capability.
