Ron Baron Describes Unreleased Tesla FSD

Billionaire investor and fund manager Ron Baron describes his ride in what seems to be the unreleased version of Tesla FSD.

Waymo are $250,000 each.

Ron was in California on Monday last week and was taken on a ride with the latest version of Tesla FSD.

He says this is the moment for [supervised] autonomous driving. It will take 2-3 years for regulatory approval on robotaxi.

Tesla will make hundreds of billions of dollars per year on just FSD.

  1. We test drove FSD in Utah this week. It took us through rush hour traffic, up a two lane canyon to a small town 40 miles away, and back again after dinner in the dark. We never ever had to intervene at all.

As an older person, I can say the supervised FSD is surely a much safer driver than I am. If you are older, or have older parents, it would be irresponsible to let them buy any other vehicle availabel today.

We are in the process of buying a Tesla for our 80+ parents to use, in the meantime, we have loaded up on Tesla stock. It’s now the opportunity of a lifetime, even better to me than the Google IPO.

  2. Regulatory friction depends on the US administration. Democrats will do anything to slow down and hurt non union and firebrand Elon.

Even if it means more carbon based down and pollution

  3. We have been “on the verge” of full FSD for quite a while now.
Regulatory agency’s are painfully slow and work at their own glacial like pace.
    2030 maybe?

    • The pace of FSD progress and the actual data and metrics are very different with 12.X than before. There are more than one regulatory agency and regulatory agencies have approved Waymo, Cruise in parts of the US and Apollo, Pony.Ai, Didi and others are getting many approvals in China.

    • I’ve been driving fsd v12.3 since mid-March. Quantum leap over v11, but still makes occasional mistakes. I think by 8/8 robotaxi reveal, we will be able to project a reasonable time table when it’s safe to turn it loose.
