In 2020, LG Energy Solution added the most passenger EV battery capacity deployed onto roads. It is supplying Tesla in China and VW, Renault and Mercedes in Europe. CATL added the second most battery production capacity in 2020.
CATL wants to increase its production capacity between 2020 and 2025 in the following stages: 110 GWh (2020), 230 GWh (2021), 380 GWh (2022), 540 GWh (2023), 830 GWh (2024) and 1,200 GWh (2025).
Contemporary Amparex Technology (CATL) battery production, including of power batteries and energy storage batteries, totaled 51.71GWh in 2020, up by 9.4pc from 2019. Its sales increased by 14.4pc to 46.84GWh over the same period.
CATL missed its 2020 production target but is investing heavily to increase production.
