Israeli Rear Admiral : Hamas Has Lost Control of Northern Gaza

Israel’s military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said in a televised briefing on Wednesday that Hamas has lost control of northern Gaza as thousands of residents have moved south.

“We saw 50,000 Gazans move from the northern Gaza Strip to the south. They are moving because they understand that Hamas has lost control in the north,” Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said. “Hamas has lost control and is continuing to lose control in the north.”

Israel foiled an attack by Hezbollah directed by Iran in Brazil.

Israeli forces continue to deepen the attack into Gaza City and have caused significant damage to Hamas’ aerial and naval forces, he added.

Hamas’ internal leadership has lost touch with its field commanders.

  1. Hopefully Israel can achieve its objective without further use of 500lb bombs in highly populated areas. I don’t understand why it has being used in such high concentrated population areas in the first place. As former President Obama had alluded to during a recent speech, it is just wrong to kill 9 innocent civilians in order to get 1 Hamas member with such a powerful and inaccurate weapon. During the US invasion of Iraq, the US has much lower civilian deaths due to extra caution in avoiding civilian deaths.

  2. I don’t think the movement of 50K civilians means what he thinks it means. 50K is a rather small number of civilians, given an original population somewhere around one million. Even if three quarters had already left, that’s still only ~20% of the civilians who were left there.

    • The full news report is that they saw 50K move south on Wednesday, up from 15K on Tuesday.

The way that Hamas operates, I’d be more comfortable with them not being in control than them firing rockets from outside my house.
