Global electric car sales finished November 2017 with a new record of 141,000 sales for the month which is an increase of 72% against November 2016. January to November sales passed 1 million to reach 1,039,114 with December figures still to come.
Nextbigfuture projects global December 2017 electric car sales at 160,000. This would put 2017 annual electric car sales at 1.2 million.
China electric car sales were 84,000 in November 2017 which was double November 2016. Electric car market share in China is currently above 2.0% and heading for 2.5% for 2017, with November recording 3% market share.
Global electric car sales averaging 166,667 would be enough to reach 2 million electric cars in 2018.
Nextbigfuture expects Tesla to sort out Model 3 production by March 2018.
There will likely be Tesla announcements and pre-orders for a Model Y crossover vehicle and an electric pickup vehicle in late 2018.
A 50% increase in electric cars per month in China would see November 2018 having 126,000 cars.
Another 100% increase in electric cars per month in China would see November 2018 having 168,000 cars.
China could average 140,000 electric cars per month throughout 2018. This would be 1.68 million electric cars. Averaging 125,000 electric cars per month would be 1.5 million electric cars.
A 50% increase in global electric cars per month would see November 2018 having 210,000 cars.
Another 72% increase in electric cars per month would see November 2018 having 242,000 cars.
A global average of 200,000 electric cars per month throughout 2018 is possible. This would be 2.4 million electric cars. Averaging 180,000 electric cars per month would be 2.16 million electric cars.
China is calling for the production of 2 million electric vehicles (EVs) a year by 2020, and 7 million a year by 2025. By 2025, electric vehicles would be 20% of total new car production for China.
Nextbigfuture believes China will hit 2 million electric vehicles (EVs) a year by 2019 and 7 million a year by 2022. By 2026, 50% of new cars will be electric. By 2030, almost all new car will be electric.
