The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has taken control of significantly more area in northern and southern Gaza.

Senior Hamas member Ahmed Bahr has been killed by an Israeli airstrike, according to a statement made by Hamas.

Understanding War report:

1. Israeli forces continued advancing eastwards from the al Shifa Hospital, which is consistent with Israeli efforts to establish evacuation corridors for civilians moving west-to-east in Gaza City. The IDF told the New York Times that it had captured a Hamas fighter at al Shifa Hospital and it had not “fully secured” the hospital as of November 17.

2. Hamas highlighted the proximity of one of its tunnels to a mosque, which is notable given Hamas’ repeated claims that it does not use civilian infrastructure for military purposes.

3. Palestinian militants clashed with and conducted IED attacks against Israeli forces in Jenin. Iranian-backed fighters, including Lebanese Hezbollah, conducted 17 cross-border attacks into northern Israel.

4. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq—a coalition of Iranian-backed Iraqi militias—conducted three attacks targeting US positions in Iraq and Syria.

5. The United States Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated Iranian-backed persons and entities as Specially Designated Nationals. OFAC reported that the persons and entities were involved in recent attacks on US forces in Iraq and Syria.

6. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s official website refuted Western reports that Iran will not “directly” enter the Israel-Hamas war, likely to reassure Axis of Resistance members of Khamenei’s continued support for them.

  1. Israel expects the war to end in weeks. Yet IDF balks at invading the high density urban Gaza. Job one is to relocate 3 million women and Children. Egypt won’t take them. The world frowns on exterminating 3 million women and children. Resettling them in new concentration camps in Israel would be ironic. Years of war is more likely than weeks.

    • How about temporarily locating northern Gazans to the south, clear out the north, and then screen all people moving up north, clear out the south, and then letting people return to the south?

      • North Gaza is buried under three feet of concrete rubble. No water, no electricity, no food, no sewer. Clearing space for lodging is a one year project. Building another concentration camp for three million women and children would be expensive and time consuming. Israel bit off more genocide than they can chew.

        • Meh. It was either us or them.
The surrounding Muslim/ arab countries could absorb Gazans for a few years and then contribute (pay for and provide workers) to the rebuilding of the entire area subject to IDF security protocols – arab paradise-on-Earth as they always wanted.

        • Genocide. Right. Israel’s giving 4 hour daily humanitarian pauses for people to escape and evacuating Palestinian patients from hospitals used by terrorists. Sounds like a real genocide going on!
It’s thanks to bigots like you that Hamas still exists.

    • Paradoxically the best long term option for Palestinians as a human group is to negotiate a State and land in a relation similar to Puerto Rico and U.S but having a Palestinian state closely related to Israel.

Palestinians are the pariah of Arab world, nobody wants them Egypt,Jordania, etc. they have as only viable option Israel ( assuming that Netanyahu coalition is dissolved)
