Iran Launched a Swarm of Drones Against Israel

Iran has launched about ten or so hundreds of drones over Iraq towards Israel. They are drones with small propeller planes. There are now more missiles. These will likely get shotdown by Israel.

However, is this the start something?

It is weird and there is a lot of uncertainty.

This is not an actual effective attack. They would have to launch a multi-pronged attack.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps seized an Israeli-linked container ship near the Strait of Hormuz in the latest escalation of the simmering standoff between the two countries.

      • Are the rich launching drone swarm attacks at US companies? No?

Where we did fund Iran and now helped to fund shooting down Iran’s drones. Surely there must be a better way for the US to do field testing.

  1. Deterrence only works through the psyche of the enemy.

Restraint is often perceived as weakness by a bullying culture and thus invites aggression.

Magnanimity as a choice is only possible after defeating the enemy resoundingly, not before.

    • No question. “Discretion” is only the better part of valor if your dealing w/rational actors. Nations/entities that so openly provoke conflict historically are “unstable, decrepit basket cases” Not the makings of anything rational. For Iran, nothing like a war to divert their peoples attention from how AWFULL their daily lives really are. For Iran, all out war w/Israel would be suicide. Suicide may seem acceptable to the fascist theocrats in charge of such a decrepit country.

  2. A “cost assessment” is not the issue here. When a nations “survival” is at stake (factually or perception) how much it “costs” goes down the crapper. And if your talking about Biden not funding our military ask the Republican Congress why they have done NOTHING to pass military funding in the past year+!

  3. Given what Israel is currently going through, one has to ask the question why is Iran doing this now? From a military intelligence POV, one can only presume it’s to test Israel’s response to multiple types of attacks at the same time. Physical attack directly (missel attacks), and counter-insurgency (taking hostages).

Hey Iran, if you read this, this is UNIMAGINABLY STUPID!! You are forcing a nuclear armed nation into a corner. One it CAN NOT extricate itself by use of vast conventional forces, like the USA has. So Iran, so many things come into play here. Firing actual missals is NOT a “war game” against which every nation has every legitimate authority to respond. Iran, you are playing w/fire, and we can all end up getting burned, you idiots…

  4. It would be good to include a cost assessment of intercepting the attacks.
This seems to be a failure mode in western military technique, even acknowledging the training cost and political fallout of any service death.
Sooner or later an attacker with a considerable and continuing income from oil sales will be able to overwhelm a small nation with income dependent on the productivity of the working people who have left their work to resist the aggression.
A friend builds small boats for western military purchasers at accessible costs. They look very much like the boats the Somalis and Houthis use to disrupt global supply chains. $50,000 RIB vs $500,000,000 frigate- especially when we can’t fire first and need a pair of $100,000 missiles to aim at each speedboat? I hope that GoatGuy can come along to explain the math!
Our G7 nation’s “leader” cannot see his way to maintaining a navy, providing useful icebreakers for arctic patrol, and is 23% behind in manning the armed forces.
In an economic and propaganda war, it is not difficult to develop an opinion on the outcome.

    • The cheapest way to intercept attacks like this is actually to take out the leadership ordering them. I expect that Israel will prioritize that going forward.

  5. This is the first time the attack came directly from Iran. However, this entire war has been Iran attacking Israel through its various proxies. It’s outright ridiculous how much resources Iran is spending to destroy a country that would otherwise pose no threat to them.
